Wander Exercise Reports
The Exercise Wander events are 2 day unsupported trail
rides with at least one night under poncho. Teams are provided with a series of check points to visit with
a corresponding set of questions to be answered. The team with the highest score at the end of the weekend are declared
the winners. Points are also awarded for postive attitude, good field administration/campcraft and for effective
machine preparation, campcraft and leadership. GPS are banned - the events are designed to encourage back to basic
survival skills and drills!
Ex Winter Wander Report 13 and 14
Feb 10
Many thanks to Caroline, Al, Brett, Chris, Steve, Buster, Royal, Paul, Mark, Dave,
Pete and Grant for making the effort to attend the Winter Wander event held at Stonehenge Campsite, Berwick St James - sadly
Craig blew up another bike on route and had to turn to the AA for help - weak! The weather was nippy, but generally
kind with a short hail shower during the Sat evening. Some excellent riding was executed in slippery conditions
interspersed with a hearty meal and one or two beers in the the local pub. Breakfast was cooked by all around an
open fire and was a very enjoyable and social experience. Team Results:
Winning
Team: DGLC
Team DGLC 5000 pts (rubbish bkfst), Team Lairy 4750 pts (Royal
had a lazy bkfst), Team Teabreak 4650 pts (best bkfst), Team Arborfield Aces 4600 pts (rubbish bkfst and first aid kit).
Ex Autumn Wander Report - 26th and 27th Sep 09 54 riders from Germany, Harrogate, Devon, Chester, Salisbury, Tidworth, Leeds, Devon etc. What an amazing
turn out. Throw in some superb trails, basic camping, carrying all your kit (NO support trucks - oh yeah!), a kick ass
BBQ, a huge bon fire, few beers, a cooking and mechanical "special stage" and you have a recipe for an
outstanding off-road motorcycling event - an amazing weekend with some fantastic riders!

The weather was outstanding, the trails were bone dry and plentiful
and the riding was simply awesome. Following an early start on the Sat morning, all the competitors marked their maps
and headed out into the Wiltshire countryside to bag as many of the 142 check points possible before being directed to an
overnight campsite near Stonehenge. All 20 teams arrived in the campsite before the mandatory 1800hrs cut off except
the TBM boys who were hopelessly late having run out of fuel but still having a good time. The evening barbecue was
superb and was staged around an enormous bonfire with plenty of social beers and stories abound. Following a chilly night under
canvas the riders were up early for a mechanical and egg banjo cooking competition prior to a second day of bagging
even more check points. The overall event was won by Yoshi and Sarah, but more importantly all the competitors finshed
the event in one piece (less a shoulder strain for one unlucky individual sustained in the first hour on the Sat), a broken
KTM and a puncture for one of the DGLC riders. Many thanks for all who entered into the spirit of the event
and a special thanks to the admin crew, Kelvin, Archie, Mensa and Scouse.
