Club Background

Club Charter

The Great Escape Motorcycle Club was formed in 2006 in Arborfield by 2 serving REME officers; Steve Cannon and Kev Howard.  The club was designed to promote advanced road riding skills for young service riders in an attempt to reduce the high number of motorcycle accidents within the military community.  The secondary aim of the club was to introduce recruits to adventure military motorcycling using MT350cc Harley Davidson motorcycles.  Following 2 successful years of competition riding, enduro training and maintenance tuition, the club has evolved to become the Great Escape Adventure Motorcyling Club and is now focussed on long distance unsupported expedition riding using road legal trail bikes for military and civilian riders.  The 'Great Escape' was chosen for the club name in memory of the legendary Steve McQueen to engender a spirit of adventure and positive mental attitude.

Spike's top tip: Reduce the risk of a punctured tube by using heavy duty innner tubes 'double skinned' with standard tubes - ride longer!
